Anxiety Therapy

What is anxiety?

Anxiety is a physical sensation of fear and dread, and it is the body's way of signaling that there is something dangerous that requires your full attention. Therefore, it is a normal reaction to experiences that feel threatening.

In the case of pathological anxiety, symptoms are triggered more easily than normal. The anxiety is often disproportionate to reality, and a feeling of helplessness may arise. Many people isolate themselves, leading to a life of solitude and resignation.

In addition to the psychological experience of anxiety, the emotional responses can trigger stress reactions in the body.

These may include:

  • Heart palpitations
  • Shortness of breath
  • Dizziness
  • Hot flashes or cold sweats
  • Feeling of warmth or cold

Anxiety Symptoms

  • You find it difficult to keep appointments and manage the usual responsibilities in your life.
  • You perceive the world around you as a dangerous place, and over time, isolation becomes your only alternative.
  • You struggle to talk to others about it because you feel misunderstood.
  • You are surrounded by well-meaning people, yet you only feel that something is wrong with you.

Anxiety Can Be Treated

Anxiety can be connected to various conflicts, such as conflicts in external life situations, personal development, identity, existential life themes, overload, guilt, and shame. It may not always be obvious what the anxiety is tied to, but it is important to address it, learn to manage it, and view it as an expression of feelings and needs that may be difficult to acknowledge.

That said, anxiety is also a physical reaction to these issues. This means we must explore the body’s sensory system and examine the overload (the body's alarm system) that has been triggered.
